Oral Presentation Guidelines
- Prepare a PowerPoint presentation that describes the objectives, methods, results and conclusion(s) of your work.
- At the start of your presentation, state the presentation title and list the authors’ names and affiliations on a separate line beneath the title. Underline the name of the presenter.
- Consider the following tips for preparing a good PowerPoint presentation (optional):
- Minimize the number of slides (a good target is 1 to 1½ slides per minute).
- Choose a font style that your audience can read from a distance (e.g. Helvetica and Arial are more readable than Arial Narrow or Times New Roman).
- Choose a font size that your audience can read from a distance.
- Where relevant, keep your text simple by using bullet points or short sentences.
- Ensure labels for tables and graphs are understandable and readable.
- Make slide backgrounds appealing but not too eye-catching, and keep them consistent.
- Use high contrast between background color and text color (e.g. use a dark font on a white or light background).
- Check your spelling and grammar.
- Near the end of your presentation, acknowledge your co-workers, collaborators and sponsors (on separate slides, if appropriate).
- If possible, email your PowerPoint presentation to the Scientific Program Chair, Marina Ezquerra, and the Conference Secretary, Armando Burgos, before the conference.
- Store your PowerPoint presentation on a memory drive that you can give to the Conference Secretary during registration.
