PFTFISH.NET | Pacific Fisheries Technologists Conference - STUDENT PAPER INFORMATION

 

The Pacific Fisheries Technologists conference convenes February 13 - 16, 2011 at the Coast Plaza Hotel & Suites, 1763 Comox Street, Vancouver, BC.  The PFT 2011 Planning Committee is working on an exciting program and invites participants from the seafood industry, academia and government agencies to this annual international meeting of presentations, discussions and social interactions.  The meeting will have a sustainability theme, emphasizing our commitment to a responsible and sustainable industry.  In the past, technical and scientific papers focusing on seafood products and technology in the following areas were presented although any issues related to seafood will be considered:

Aquaculture and Feeds · Biochemistry · Byproducts · Education/Extension · Engineering · Environmental Issues · Fish Harvesting and Handling · Marine Biology · Marketing · Microbiology · Processing · Regulatory Issues · Safety · Shellfish ·  Value-added Products · Waste Management

There will be oral presentations and a poster session.  Oral presentations will fit into 20 minute time slots.  Plan on a15-minute presentation followed by 5 minutes for questions and comments.  Binder clips will be used to hold the poster in place on a foam core easel board (40” wide x 32” high x 1/8” thick).  Posters should be readable from a distance of 3 feet.

ABSTRACT GUIDELINES

  • Using a 12 point Times New Roman font and 1 inch margins (top, bottom and sides), submit your typed text in English on one-page containing 200-300 words.  The abstract should summarize the introduction, objective, methods, results, discussion, and conclusion(s).
  • List the title in bold letters.
  • Indicate whether the abstract is for an oral presentation or a poster.
  • List the authors’ names and affiliations on a separate line beneath the title and indicate the presenter with an asterisk (*).
  • All the abstracts must be submitted by December 31, 2010 to the technical program chair, Lynn Seidel at lseidel@shafer-haggart.com.
  • Please remember to use a dark font on a white or light background for ease of reading during presentation.

STUDENT PAPER CONTEST
There will be six student paper competition awards to recognize the top three oral and poster presentations.  Please note your interest in joining this contest when you submit your abstracts.  For further details, please contact the student paper chair, Minh Dieu Huynh at mdhuynh@shaw.ca.
